Alan Mulley

He has been interested in music for all of his life and has been influenced by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Stevie Wonder and other big band and jazz artists.
He started singing in 1999 when he was involved with Theatre group, they were impressed enough to suggest that he should consider entering some talent contests. So Alan entered his first in 2000 and received a finalist trophy and he was then hooked. It was then that Alan entered as many as he could handle traveling to Torquay, Exmouth, Bournemouth, Norfolk and Wales to perform at the larger venues with audiences of 500, quite frightening but a great buzz!
In 2001 he heard about a local talent contest being aired on local radio on the Pat Marsh show on radio Kent and had a live interview with him and also live airplay of songs that he had recorded and managed to reach semi finals.

Exmouth and Torquay were the places that Alan was getting a following and locals were turning up to support him and began winning not only judges but audience votes too.
It was at that time an agent approached Alan and offered to get him work. He started performing in holiday camps and hotels on the south and south east coast which was exciting and also a great experience.
Unfortunately illness prevented Alan from continuing and had to stop performing for 12 months or so.

It was then that Alan met Pete who lived in the same village and was trying to form a 5 piece rock band with some musician friends. Alan was itching to sing and perform again and this seemed like a great opportunity. He had never sung with a band before and was amazed at how well we all worked together. He was pleased to be accepted as a member of Wasted Aces.
The biggest challenge then was to learn and perform a new genre of music but as many of the classic rock songs were at least familiar to him, and with the benefit of having 4 experienced top quality musicians behind him, it made the transition a whole lot easier. Long may Wasted Aces continue. Rock on!
