Steve House

In the late 60's early 70's Steve was a fan of David Bowie, Roxy Music, Cockney Rebel, Roy Wood Queen.
His interest in playing music was sparked by hearing a secondary school pal play a party piece on the school grand piano. Around about this time his Dad bought an old upright and Steve found himself working out the songs of the day in a very rudimentary fashion.
He did some lessons but found more gratification in working things out for himself. Got a cassette recorder one Christmas & started experimenting with double tracking using Dad's stereo.
Much to their chagrin Steve transformed his Mum & Dad's front room into a rehearsal venue then, armed with a new Wurlitzer electric piano (Steve's right arm stretched a couple of inches or so from lugging the beast around) the first 1st band began performing in the mid 1970s, called BLADE (Bass Lead Acoustic Drums Electric piano), focusing on '60's pop and some original.
For various reasons a lot of Steve's story is lost in the mists of time. There was an early performance in a band called Mustard, for instance, but focusing on the details is like trying to look through a glass of Truman's best…
Soon after BLADE came BULLET, versatile pop, ran from later in 1970s and survived for about 10 years, with some later reincarnations.

Other bands include:
OPEN TO SUGGESTION
SCRATCH BAND
MID LIFE CRISIS
CHOSEN FEW (at least two flirtations in a 30 year period)
CODY NASH (country)
CURLY (well known '70s pop)
SHY (pretentious rock)
NO HIDING PLACE the pinnacle of the early career. Prodigious songwriting. Captured the moment. Finalists in Kent battle of the bands in 1985(?)
POWER OF 2
THERE'S NO ANSWER (which was Pete's band until it became THE EXPRESSIONS and Pete & Steve got booted out of it)
NIGHT MOVES (which became KATRALABREE)
THE SHARPEES (briefly a guest)
Various club bands, the phone never stopped ringing…

So now Steve has settled in the Aces playing the stuff he likes. The piano doesn't give up its secrets easily! Steve is still searching, still learning and finding new joy in the instrument. That pretty much sums up what why music has been his mistress for the past 30+ years and continues to exert its allure.
